2. Check that plan with the insurer

Next, he cross-checked with the insurer about the accuracy of the plan. Mohit called up the help desk of the insuring company and double checked his information.

3. Clicked the 'Buy Insurance' tab on the insurer company's website

4. Filled the details in the box accurately.

5. Before paying for the policy, Mohit once again checked the details.

6. After clicking 'Pay', Mohit received an OTP on his registered mobile number.

7. In the next step, Mohit verified his OTP by inputting it in the box appearing in his netbanking website.

8. After verification, Mohit got confirmation of his payment from the bank.

9. A few days later, Mohit received a soft copy of his insurance policy in his mailbox.

However, there are a few things that you should consider before and after buying insurance online. These are:


  • Please check whether the policy is still in force or not at the time of buying.
  • Never furnish wrong information to your insurer while buying insurance. Your claim might get canceled later on if the insurer found out that you lied.
  • To buy insurance online, you should have a netbanking account.
  • Always use a secure connection while submitting your OTP and other sensitive data. Never use public WiFi networks,
  • Please keep your insurance policy number handy at all times. You may need it while corresponding with your insurer. 
  • Never disclose your OTP to any other person, including the representative of your insurer.
